March to November

March begins cool at about 10°C, while April and May bring milder sightseeing weather. July and August average around 30°C with very little rain, favouring the coast but making inland ruins hot. September and October are warm and drier; November averages about 12°C and suits city visits with a jacket.

Where to Go

The classic route joins Istanbul, Cappadocia and the Aegean, with Ankara, Pamukkale or the Turquoise Coast adding political history, mineral terraces or beaches.

Turkey makes sense as a crossroads: Anatolia links Europe, the Black Sea, the Caucasus and the eastern Mediterranean, while Istanbul controls the Bosphorus passage.
